One Last Thing: Dear Newbs.

Mandrake - and we're talking Mandragora officinarum, not mayapple - is fucking poisonous. If you do not know your dosages, do NOT fuck around with it. Period.

Seriously. Fucking. Period.

Do your research or do not fuck around. You can die, or seriously make yourself very sick.

Mayapple is also poisonous. Including fatal poisoning from Podophyllotoxin. Tachycardia ending in arrest, coma, death... the usual.

For me, exposure (fumes in incense) felt like alcohol intoxication, followed by my heart ramping up to hummingbird speeds. Luckily I have tachycardia anyway, and knew how to deal with the issues that arose.

In toxic doses, officinarum is an emetic. A very, very powerful emetic. I have never, ever taken a toxic dose and I never, ever will. Because I respect officinarum, and its ability to fuck your world up.

... And it can and may also induce stercoraceous. I don't know if you can die, but the ease of dosage at which mandragora becomes an emetic is not very high at all.

I haven't touched the stuff in years. But the daemon was pleasant enough to meet.

Mandrake is very, very, nice. Mayapple is ... okay. But after my run-in with Datura I will never consume "notably poisonous" things unless I have no other choice. It's just not the way I want to leave this world, and I know how easy it would be for it to happen.

Once upon a time, after reading Pikhal, I got the idea to experiment with mandrake tea. I discovered that this was a Bad Idea. A very, very, very Bad Idea. (Let's just say I am not sure which was worse - the projectile vomiting or the three days of burning diarrhea that followed).
