Christianity, Blogspot, and Anne Rice

(This is probably the only good movie he's been in...)

A week after various Blogspot blogs began collectively Godmoding in unison (go, go Esoteric Christians! If only they had Power Rings like the kids on Captain Planet!) ...

... Anne Rice decided to stop being a Christian. (She's still big on Christ, however. Just not the edifice that stands in his name.) What does this mean? Is there a correlation?! CAN WE BLAME THIS ON RO?!

Okay. Okay. Probably not. But I found it to be quite funny.

Are you forgetting his powerhouse performance in Magnolia?

I'm talking about Tom, not RO.

To be honest I don't think Magnolia was some of RO's best work but maybe that's just me.

Well.....good for her. Exoteric Christianity is full of non-Christian B.S. these days anyway(see Yeshua's words in the New Testament as opposed to popular exoteric Christian views re gays, poor people and the lot.)

Sounds to me like she's decided to be an Actual Christian, regardless of what the "dead letter" Christian community thinks. If RO did this, she owes him a thank you letter.=)

Hmm...it would appear she quit writing about Vampires for her previous version of Christianity. I imagine they were not to pleased about that....

@Gordon: I'm not a big fan of Magnolia. Incidentally, I did enjoy Eyes Wide Shut. But RO's preforms in Eyes Wide Shut was also less than stellar, and it was easy to ignore Tom for most of the movie (as he had no real personality in it).

@AIT: I'm very careful about defining who is/isn't or may/may not be an "actual Christian," because the Good Book is so open to interpretation that... well...

Shit, man. I treat it as nothing more than a giant Spell Book, with a few comments that may or may not have been made by Christ, and a lot of commentary from the Apostles that's just downright silly.

As for the Vampires, I imagine they've been waiting for Anne to come back to them for a long time.

Ahh, I'm nowhere near as careful.....on this particular subject, I'm calling a duck a duck. Being un-loving and spiteful to one's neighbor, villifying and failing to help the poor, ostracizing "sinners" instead of welcoming them, all that is non-Christian bullshit. People who espouse these sort of views are not following in Yeshua's footsteps, regardless of what they call themselves. These things are common practice in much of American exoteric Christianity, a matter of policy almost. Thems is just the facts; if folk can prove me wrong I'd love to hear it.

I feel you on the Bible...my favorite Christian gospels/writings aren't even included in it. I've pretty much made my own "bible" of texts, Council of Nicea be damned. Thomas, St.John, the Pistis Sophia, and Psalms for my Hoodoo work....so much wisdom in this tradition, ignored. Rarely are even the Priests and Pastors mystical in their understanding these days, makes me sad.

Yes - the vampires and I have been waiting for Anne Rice to come back for some time. We knew she would return.

*reclines back into luxuriant armchair and places hands in a steeple, eyes narrowing*

(Seriously, though - OH HAPPY DAY.)

This doesn't entirely surprise me. She's been struggling a lot with church doctrine and opinions on her facebook. And of course her son, whom she loves very much, is gay.
